Power Analysis

Did the B ride today with the powertap, starting tired, but I got some good data. The ride consisted of 2 significant climbs.

1. OHL in 20:09 -- I was tired so my average HR was only 160 (should be able to do 165 or more if fresh), but I still managed to average 322 watts. More important is the relative recovery stage 10-14 minutes into it, where I'm going a little slower after some big spikes out of the saddle to cover the steep sections, and my watts dropped to 305, which is still pretty good. This seems to indicate my FTP is around 310-320.

2. West alpine - the steep section was about 32 minutes, and by this point I was tired and didn't have enough gearing to do anything but grind up the steep sections at around 65-75 rpm (or stand). Still, I managed to average 290 watts through it, with an average HR of 150. Considering I did the mount diablo challenge just last October at 291 watts, 159 HR, and a much better cadence, this again suggests my FTP has significantly improved, probably due to a combination of higher VO2 and efficiency.
