Spinning Up

First, let's get one thing out of the way: if you are reading this and you are not Evan Paull, this blog is not for you. This blog is for me. Please stop reading immediately...or don't, I don't really care because I didn't write it for you. I know what you're thinking: then why blog it? Well, I figure the fear of public embarrassment will force me to keep the posts constant, with good-er English than I might prepare for myself, etc... Anyways, now that we've completed that chore, let's get down to business.

I've always been a cyclist. Both my parents were cyclists, and my Dad had me traveling on long rides (relatively, for a kid) since I was 7 years old. We didn't have a car so I biked everywhere. I started doing serious rides when I was 12 (up to 100 miles), group rides with the Berkeley Bike club, and raced as a junior from age 13 to 16. I had some moderate success, including a win for the California state championship (Road Race), but then found myself at the back of the pack when I stepped up for a few national level races, and got frustrated with the sport. I had enough going on with my life at 16, so I gave up cycling, went to college and never thought about road cycling until just before my 25th birthday.

I started road cycling again with the prodding of my Friend and Co-Worker Ryan (before it had just been the occasional mountain bike ride), and fell in love with it again. Spent several paychecks on a new Cervelo (you really have to ride one to understand...), and started doing group rides with the Alto Velo club and the noon riders. Five months later and I'm in pretty decent shape, ready to start racing again with the Webcor / Alto Velo club, as a cat 4. You should now have enough information to determine the nature of the rest of the content.
